This rug is an adaptation of a vintage rug that my friend, Sue, had from her mother. It's a great, simple design and can be hooked so many different ways. The scotty doesn't have to be a black dog, at all. It could easily be a Westie, or whatever cute little pooch you happen to love. It's a large rug and the background field around the dog needs to have some movement in it, since it's so large, so I've added the lines to indicate that. It is a primitive design, in that it has simple elements to the design but you can add much detail, if you wish. The overall style to this rug is more of a cottage look. The beauty lines between borders can differ and the flowers in the borders can be made so interesting in the choices of colors you choose.

The size of this rug pattern is 24x43.5" drawn on monks cloth or primitive linen.
